Case Studies
Training & education
Between 2021 and 2024, HHH delivered an extensive capability-building programme for the healthcare workforce of the Port Said Governorate in Egypt, in close collaboration with the General Healthcare Authority. The initiative formed a central component of the region’s health system strengthening strategy, focusing on the upskilling of clinical and administrative professionals and the development of long-term institutional capacity.
Workforce Development and Training
The programme encompassed comprehensive training and education pathways designed to enhance the skills of nurses, doctors, surgeons, and administrative personnel across key subspecialties and areas of advanced care. Using a blended model that combined digital learning, clinical immersion, and on-the-job mentorship, HHH delivered:
- 9 online programmes, training up to 200 professionals in just three months;
- 20 clinical immersion programmes, enabling Egyptian doctors to train for one month within leading Italian healthcare facilities;
- 10 proctorship missions, with San Donato Group clinical experts providing hands-on training directly within Port Said hospitals.
This integrated approach ensured both immediate skills transfer and sustainable improvements in workforce capability.
Advanced Training Centre Development
In partnership with key stakeholders — the University, the General Health Authority, and the Ministry of Health and Population — HHH supported the establishment of an Advanced Training Centre for the Port Said healthcare workforce. This centre now serves as a permanent hub for continuous professional development, simulation-based training, and advanced clinical education, supporting long-term system resilience.
Academic Partnership
A formal affiliation between Port Said Medical School and UniSR (Vita-Salute San Raffaele University) was established to strengthen academic and research collaboration.
The partnership includes:
- Student and faculty exchange programmes
- Development of joint training pathways
- Collaborative research initiatives
This academic bridge enhances the region’s capability to train future generations of healthcare professionals and supports the alignment of local education programmes with international standards.
